Consigning at Pixie Dust

How It Works

Items are accepted for consignment only by appointment. Items should be brought to your appointment in a box/tote rather than in a shopping/garbage bag (this will keep your clothing looking nicer, hence more sellable). Select from two appointment styles as described below, and then call the store to schedule an appointment.

Drop and Donate Appointment: You may bring up to 40 items to each appointment. These items are NOT reviewed while you are in the store, but are processed soon afterwards. Unselected items are donated to local charities. This appointment style is NOT available for large items, such as baby equipment, strollers, etc. Usually, this appointment style has the widest array of times available.

Review and Retrieve Appointment: You may bring up to 40 items to each appointment. While you shop, we will select the items that we are confident we can sell and return to you those for which we have insufficient demand.

Seasonal Clothing: Spring/Summer items can be brought in starting on February 1st. Fall/Winter items can be brought in starting August 1st.

Sizes: Pixie Dust sells all children’s sizes; newborn (0 months) to teens (size 16).

What NOT to bring to Pixie Dust:

Please keep in mind that these policies are in place to assist YOU in having a successful consigning experience!

We do not accept anything that is defective in any way (torn, pilled, faded, stained, tags cut out, stretched-out, recalled or broken). Clothing must be of current style (nothing older than 3 years) and free of odors (should not smell of mothballs or smoke). Clothing should also be wrinkle free, if it looks like it’s been slept in, it will not sell.

If the item was originally retailed at Wal-Mart, Target, or K-Mart, it is probably NOT an item that will be sold at Pixie Dust, but we will look at it- some of it is really cute! Plenty of things are wearable and usable, but NOT “sellable.”

Items that require batteries must be brought to your appointment with working batteries in them. If you can’t tell whether or not it works, it will not sell.

We don’t sell car seats, mattresses, cribs, infant tubs, inflatable items, “power wheels” vehicles, and remote-control toys, among other things. If it’s big and bulky, please inquire by phone before your appointment.

One final test, look at the item and if you would not buy it please do not bring it to Pixie Dust to sell.

Commission: Earn 40% on every item that sells. We keep track and you get the money!

Want to earn more? Bring your clothing to your appointment ready to sell and you will earn 50% commission. What is ready to sell? Clothing that is hung on flat plastic retail style hangers so that, when viewed from the front, the hanger looks like a question mark (?). All buttons must be buttoned, all snaps must be snapped and all zippers must be zipped. Tube style and metal hangers are not accepted. If you need flat hangers, stop by the store prior to your appointment day, and pick up a free bag of hangers.Consignment checks: Reports are prepared quarterly and checks are written on January 15th, April 15th, July 15th and October 15th. Account balances below $5 will roll forward until the next check cycle. Pixie Dust does not charge a fee to write your check but we do ask for a SASE if you would like us to mail your check to you. Spend your consignment check at Pixie Dust and we’ll take 10% off your entire purchase.
